National Award Categories

This year there have been some significant changes to the awards categories and they now better represent Australia's export environment and business positioning.  As with previous years, companies may enter more than one category with the one application; however companies are only eligible to win one category. It is recommended that you consider your selection of categories carefully. The judging panel reserves the right to change your category, but will normally adopt your stated preference.

The Premier’s NSW Exporter of the Year will be chosen from the category winners.

AGRIBUSINESS AWARD

For outstanding international success in the field of agricultural products, services or technology including processed foods and beverages and the forestry, fisheries and fibres industries.

CREATIVE INDUSTRIES AWARD

(PREVIOUSLY ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT)

For outstanding international success across all creative industries including advertising, art, crafts, design, fashion, film, music, performing arts, photography, publishing, software, games, TV and radio and video games.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING AWARD

For outstanding innovation and international success in the field of education and training services, expertise and curriculum including vocational training. 

ENVIRONMENTAL SOLUTIONS AWARD

(REPLACING EMERGING EXPORTER)

For outstanding international success in environmental solutions, clean energy innovation, materials and energy efficiency, waste and water management, green buildings and R&D collaboration

INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY AWARD

For outstanding international success in the field of information and communication products, technology or services that are concerned with the storage, retrieval, manipulation, transmission or receipt of digital data including software and games.

INFRASTRUCTURE AND CONSTRUCTION AWARD

(PREVIOUSLY LARGE SERVICES) 

For outstanding contribution by an Australian company to an international project(s) involving architecture infrastructure, engineering and construction services and products. 

MINERALS AND ENERGY AWARD

For outstanding export achievement in the production or primary processing of extractive and value-added minerals or energy products, technology, equipment and services to the minerals and energy industries.

REGIONAL EXPORTER AWARD

For outstanding export achievement by a business whose head office is based in a non-metropolitan location. 

SMALL BUSINESS AWARD

For outstanding international success by any business with total annual sales not exceeding $5 million. 

MANUFACTURING AWARD

(PREVIOUSLY SMALL TO MEDIUM MANUFACTURER AND LARGE ADVANCED MANUFACTURER)

For outstanding international success by a manufacturer.

BUSINESS SERVICES AWARD

(PREVIOUSLY SMALL TO MEDIUM SERVICES)

For outstanding international success in professional business services including legal, accounting, administration and support services, business management, marketing services, franchising &licensing, finance and insurance, market research and translation services.

HEALTH AND BIOTECHNOLOGY

(CREATED BY THE MERGER OF THE TWO MANUFACTURING CATEGORIES)

State Specific Award Categories

NSW ASIAN EXPORTER

For outstanding export achievement by an enterprise in any industry sector that has attained particular success in exporting goods or services to Asia.

NSW EMERGING EXPORTER & EXPORT SCHOLARSHIP

For outstanding export achievement by an enterprise in any industry sector which has been exporting goods or services for three years or less, including an export scholarship that provides an opportunity for a business to expand export operations by up-skilling its staff. The scholarship covers relevant tuition fees and prescribed textbook for one staff member to attend the Export Procedures and Documentation Course. The course can be undertaken within 12 months. 

NSW INNOVATION IN EXPORT

For a NSW company that has made innovation an integral part of their exporting process. Given the current challenges facing NSW exporter's today this award will go to a company that highlights new and creative strategies to help build and sustain their export business. The awards will be judged across all industry sectors. 

WESTERN SYDNEY EXPORTER

For outstanding export achievement in any Industry sector, by an enterprise located in the Greater Western Sydney area.

HUNTER/ CENTRAL COAST EXPORTER

For outstanding export achievement in any Industry sector, by an enterprise located in the Hunter/ Central Coast region.

ILLAWARRA EXPORTER

For outstanding export achievement in any Industry sector, by an enterprise located in the Illawarra region.
